The Tortilla Factory, 1948

Ben Arrietta Sr. started La Tolteca in 1948 as a tortilla factory, supplying fresh corn tortillas to local stores, schools, and neighbors. Made simply with organic corn, water, and lime, our tortillas and corn products are still prepared the same traditional way more than 75 years later.

Built for the Neighborhood

In 1967, La Tolteca opened at 321 N. Azusa Ave. as a tortilla factory with just a few small tables. By 1981, the community had spoken, and the family built a proper dining room.
